Rooted in Christ, Growing Faith Across Generations

In 1974, a small group of college graduates, inspired by a calling from God, moved into Roosevelt Park, a low-income neighborhood in southwest Grand Rapids. They opened their doors to serve the community’s children, planting the seeds of what would become a thriving school community.

Today, The Potter’s House serves over 650 students, representing a vibrant tapestry of cultures and backgrounds, with families from more than 35 countries and speaking over 10 different languages. As a leading Christian School in Grand Rapids, we are open to all—welcoming students and families from every background, culture, and income level.

Over the past 40 years, we’ve witnessed God’s love transform countless students and families. We’ve heard from thousands of students, families, and supporters on the joy of being part of the TPH mission. Here are just a few voices:

"For me, the lasting impact has been understanding what it means to live out my faith. The school has taught me to serve and lead, not only in words but through actions-living out Christ in every moment."

SOHANNY, SENIOR

School is fun! I love learning math and playing on the playground."

SAWYER, THIRD GRADE

"The teachers cared not just about what we were learning but about who we were becoming."

CRISTIAN PADILLA, 2023 GRADUATE

It's an honor to watch these children grow and learn to love the Lord. This may be the first time they hear that God loves them! It's as much a blessing for me as it is for them."
